Gums bleeding is a common oral problem experienced both by adults and children. Pregnant women are more likely to have dental problems, due to the constant hormonal changes in their body. However, you should never try to ignore the symptoms, dental issues might ruin your near-perfect pregnancy. If you haven’t been seeing a dentist before, now that you are pregnant you might need to reconsider.

Pregnant women are prone to gums bleeding and oral infections. This is why it’s highly recommended that you should visit your dentist regularly. Early detection of the symptoms of gum infections and disease may be helpful for faster treatments.

5. Oil pulling: this is an effective tradition remedy for maintaining healthy teeth and gums. During pregnancy, oil pulling is great for fighting gingivitis and periodontitis which leads to bleeding of gums. Oil pulling involves the use of olive oil, coconut oil or sesame oil.

This oils has essential ingredients that can strengthen your gums and teeth. It also clears away plaque and bacteria from the mouth, preventing oral infections. Pulling oils have powerful antibacterial and antioxidants that plays an important role in keeping the mouth healthy during pregnancy. Get any of these oils and swish around your mouth each day for about 10 – 15 minutes. Don’t swallow the pulling oil after each use, ensure that it reaches to all the affected parts of your mouth.

Treatments for gums bleeding during pregnancy

  • Oral antibiotics: in order to support the development of a child, the hormones in the female body undergoes some adjustments. This changes affects the mom’s immune system, making pregnant women more vulnerable to infections. Antibiotics might be recommended if the reason why you are experiencing gums bleeding is due to severe bacteria infection. However, not all antibiotics are prescribed for pregnant women. Your doctor can help you to identify those antibiotics that can help combat the infection.
