Pictures of dental implants, best before & after photos

Before we look at some pictures of dental implants, I would like to explain some few things first. Maybe you already knew what dental implants is all about, but for the purpose of educating all let’s look at some things.

Dental implants, including dentures and veneers, are artificial teeth that are surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath your gums. Dental implants, such as front tooth implants, come in different sizes, heights, and types. They are widely used in dentistry as an abutment to replace missing teeth. Before an implant placement, your dentist will make necessary examinations to determine which option, like dentures or veneers, is best for you.

How Dental Implants Work

Dental implants are specially designed to look, feel, and act like natural teeth. During the placement surgery, the dentist will replace the root area of the missing tooth with metal, screw-like posts in which the artificial tooth can be implemented. Implants provides a more secure and stable support for artificial teeth since it’s made of fuse to your jawbone.

Now here are some of the main types of dental implants. The American Dental Association reported that the following two types of implants are safe and more successful.

1. Endosteal implants: this is the most popular type of dental implant. These special type of implants are surgically implanted directly into the jawbone. They are usually made of titanium and shaped like small screws. Most of the pictures that you will see below are endosteal implants.

2. Subperiosteal implants: these implants looks just like endosteal, the difference is just that they are placed under the gums right above the jawbone. Subperiosteal implants are recommended for patients who do not have enough healthy natural jawbone and do not want to undergo a bone augmentation procedure. The implant consist of a metal frame that is fitted onto the jawbone just below the gum tissue.
